Article Processing Charge

Publication Charges & Financial Policies

It is imperative that the Journal of Living Systems be transparent on all the aspects associated with the processing and publication of articles. It might adopt one of the two models: the No Article Processing Charge (No APC) model or the Article Processing Charge (APC) model.

This depends on the publishing policies of the journal and will be made clear to the authors before submission/publication.

Under a No APC Model

Authors are generally not required to pay charges for:

  • Manuscript submission.
  • Editorial assessment.
  • Peer review.
  • Publication of accepted manuscripts.

This approach promotes equitable access to scholarly publishing by reducing financial barriers for researchers.

If APCs Apply

The journal should clearly specify the following information:

APC Information Details
Publication Fee Applicable APC amount
Payment Stage Stage at which payment is required
Services Covered Editorial processing and publication
Waiver Policy Financial support, where applicable
Discount Policy Eligibility criteria
Refund Policy Conditions, if applicable

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based exclusively on:

  • Scientific quality.
  • Originality.
  • Methodological rigor.
  • Relevance to the journal.
  • Scientific contribution.
  • Adherence to ethical standards.

Finances play no role in the editorial or peer review process. The journal is committed to ensuring the integrity of the publishing process.
